Meow, I’m so glad you could make it to my Virtual Catfé, a place where we can have the equivalent of a human “coffee date”. My head is brimming with new ideas for upcoming posts, but unfortunately there is so little time to develop them. I need their help but my humans work full time, and in their spare time, he runs a little side marine repair business, and she does his books as well as publish a newsletter for their boating club. They are both quite active with the boating club too and go out quite often with their boating friends. When they are home, like most homeowners, something around the house is always needing attention. It’s a wonder we post anything at all.
Here in my Virtual Catfé, I can tell you about my upcoming posts. If I could turn your attention to my right side-bar at the top of the page, you will see a section titled “Coming Next”. There, is where, I’ll list my drafts and scheduled posts. Last year I had asked WordPress if they could make a widget that would list the titles of those posts for me, but I guess they didn’t think it was as good an idea as I did.
Here in my Virtual Catfé, I can tell you about what my humans are going to be doing. This coming weekend our boating group is having their 40th Anniversary social event at a local pub. She bought one of those button maker machines earlier this year and will be busy making logo buttons to give away. If there’s time, she might make some more of her logo coasters too. I wonder if I can talk her into making some buttons with me on them? She will also be working on the squadron’s December newsletter so it’ll be a wonder if she finds space on that little craft table/writing desk to do anything.
Here in my Virtual Catfé, I can tell you about what my boating activities are going to be. With only two weekends until December 4th, we don’t have much time to go down to the marina and decorate the boat for Santa’s Christmas Ships cruises. Yes, Santa has a boat, and he’ll be out cruising with us every weekend night from then until Christmas. Oh what fun it is to…..
Here in my Virtual Catfé, I hope you’ll not just visit but also share. One of my ideas is to host a Virtual Catfé post once a month where you can add the link to your “virtual coffee date style post” that talks about your upcoming plans or future ideas. Visitors coming into my Virtual Catfe post might see your link and decide to click on it. It’s a basic link exchange strategy using “pingback” links instead of a “linky” tool, and also helps builds search engine popularity. As a test, please feel free leave a link, to any one of your posts or pages on your blog, in the comments below. In exchange, I’ll go to your post and leave a comment with the link back to this page. Just make sure you allow and approve comments and pingbacks in that post or page. Without getting too far ahead of myself, what do you think about this?
Thank you for dropping by my Virtual Catfé. Paw paw for now.
Writing 101 Day 11: Today, write an update post in the form of a virtual coffee date. No matter what type of blog you have, it’s sometimes necessary to post updates: from project news to personal messages about what’s going on in your life. One creative approach to an update post is a “virtual coffee date,” which is like catching up with an old friend over a cup of coffee. Begins each paragraph with If we were having coffee right now… and then adds a detail. You can share any details you’d like and include as many as you want, as long as you begin each paragraph with “If we were having coffee right now”… (or a variation of this phrase). It’s a simple idea, but offers a bit more structure to your post — and is a lot more fun.
