I cruised in Santa’s Christmas ships parade,
Decorated vessels afloat at night.
Spreading good cheer on a magic crusade,
All looking so festive, merry and bright.
In fair weather we are a welcome sight,
Heavens rejoice and stars shoot with galore.
To the gifts of color in the dark that excite,
Carols are sung, hallelujahs from shore.
The skippers snug at their helms take delight,
Happy to escort the jolly old sprite.
This is a 12 Dog Cat Days of Christmas blog hop too. My Day One post is a “Christmas Card Worthy” photo.

December is from the Latin word decem (meaning ten). In the Roman calendar, it was originally the tenth month of the year that began in March. The winter days following December were not part of any month. To reflect December and my tenth poem, we’re trying the Decuain (pronounced deck•won) poetry form. Created by Shelley A. Cephas, it’s a short poem made up of 10 lines, which can be written on any subject. There are 10 syllables per line and the poem is written in iambic pentameter. There are 3 choices of rhyme scheme: ababbcbcaa, ababbcbcbb, or ababbcbccc.

Dude, your boat is beautiiiiiFUL. What an experience. Mom would love to have been in town for it. When do the Carolling Ships go out? Or is that cancelled? Just fantastic….the lights…the words just added to what we were seeing.

Thank you Shoko…we love being on it more than the house…the house is a bit neglected right now. Next Friday (19th) a couple of the big dinner/carol ships come up our way from Vancouver. We’ll be there to meet and circle around them a bit. We’re going out tonight too, hopefully there will be more fireworks! 🙂

Oh Purrsea the boat looks AMAZING!! How wonderful that you all pawticipate in it – all those pretty lights and the festive “mood” – you look pretty happy to be in your bed enjoying the whole thing! I can’t blame you for enjoying being on your boat – it’s so comfy and cozy!

Thanks Sammy! Oh and all the food too….when the humans were outside looking at all the other boats, I helped myself to a couple of chicken wings off the table! 😉

That’s just beautiful, Purrsea! Mom says she used to do the boat parade in Newport Beach. She loves Christmas lights and, in fact, went to the parade of lights in Sutter Creek last night. No water there except what was left over from the rain the day before! Hope you had a great weekend and got to go out more and see more beautiful lights.
